Julien Baillargeon is born in 1977. He resides in Paris.
After acquiring a foundation in drawing and color from Penhingen, a preparatory school of art direction and interior architecture, he completed his artistic education at l'École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (ENSAD) of Paris. Impassioned by painting, photography and cinema, he has cultivated a versatility through endless and renewed exploration.
Julien’s approach is poetic, sensual and pictorial in order to invite viewers into a contemplative realm, to show (rather than tell), and to whisper to the intuition rather than intellect. Recurrent themes are contemplation, subconscious, dreams, memories and imagination.
He is exploring the limits between the abstract and figurative by making series of big format color photographs in order to produce a strong visual impact.
He is inspired by the elements of nature and the human body and applies his vision to subjects with sinuous and evocative forms: bodies, mountains, dunes, clouds, flowers and waves provide him with the ideal motifs to mix the figurative and the abstract. , the real to the imaginary and to offer us new landscapes.
